Sony shared the official design of the PS VR2 headset on Tuesday, finally giving us a closer look at what PlayStation gamers will use in the future.
The PS VR2 is white to match the PS5’s design and color scheme. The Sense controller has also been improved with a matching white pattern. These controllers use DualSense haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, a huge leap from the Move controllers used by the original PSVR.
As detailed in the PlayStation Blog, the headset has been designed with the user in mind, including a new vent design.
“Our engineers came up with the idea as a great way to allow ventilation and avoid lens fogging while players are immersed in a VR game,” explained Sony Interactive Entertainment Senior Art Director Yujin Morisawa. “I worked on a lot of design concepts to make this happen, and in the final design you can see a little bit of space between the top and the front surface of the scope that includes integrated ventilation.”
Sony hasn’t revealed an official price or release date for the PS VR2 headset, so we’ll have to wait for more information on that. PlayStation’s first-party developers are already working on new games for the headset, including Horizon Call of the Mountain, a collaboration between Guerrilla Games and Firesprite.
