Google will bring its second software update to the Pixel 6 in February.
what you need to know
- Owners of Pixel 6 devices are seeing small system updates in the 10MB range today.
- This update is the second system patch for Pixel 6 phones in February.
- Google released a patch for the fingerprint scanner in mid-November.
Google’s Pixel phones have been among the best Android phones since the first model launched, in part because the phones are kept up to date with regular software patches. However, the update cadence for the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro is usually different from the rest, and it continues with the rollout of the second update today in February.
appeared first on 9to5Google, and we’re starting to see more Pixel 6 owners, as well as members of the Android Central team, get the update. It’s unclear what this patch fixes or introduces, as it’s a small OTA for Android 12, about 10MB in size. We’ve reached out to Google to clarify the reason for the update and will report back if we hear anything.
This new update comes on the heels of one that arrived earlier this month. The update brings some bug fixes to the Pixel 6, including some connectivity issues. Unfortunately, as Google fixed a few issues on its phones, more problems arose.
Shortly after users started using their Pixel 6 and 6 Pro phones, they started reporting Wi-Fi connection issues. The issues appear to echo some of the issues these phones have had since the December update. In November 2021, Google did release a mid-month patch aimed at improving the fingerprint scanner. So, maybe this second patch for February is designed to address the new connectivity issues. Again, we will update this post if Google responds to our inquiry.
