Otherwise, you will lose all application data related to these games, because the save files on Quest are not separate. This means that if you make a lot of progress in a game that does not support cloud saves, uninstalling the game will cause your game saves to be deleted.
How does Oculus Cloud Archive work?
When you make progress in a game on Oculus Quest or Oculus Quest 2, or save files in the app, these saved files are located in the same location as the game or app. This means that when you uninstall a game or application, the entire file folder will be deleted, including any saved game progress or files.
Oculus Cloud saves your work by backing up this saved data to your Oculus account, so that you can uninstall the game freely without worrying about losing your progress. But not all applications and games support cloud save. This is why it is important to follow the tutorial in the previous section to ensure that your application or game backs up its saved files.
When you reinstall an application with cloud backup function, these backup files will be automatically downloaded to your Oculus Quest during the installation process. This way you don’t have to worry about whether your save is correct.
