As reported by XDA Developers, some Visible customers have been sharing news of their Visible accounts being abruptly terminated on Reddit and Twitter. However, it seems that some innocent customers may have deleted their accounts by mistake to prevent abuse of the recent promotion.
Prepaid wireless carrier Visible recently launched a promotion that includes discounts on the first two months of service and a $200 gift card when users stay with the carrier for three months. It’s a great deal any day of the week, and the carrier offers unlimited data on Verizon’s LTE and 5G networks. The plan usually costs $40 per month, and when you use the carrier’s party pay discount, you can drop the cost down to $25 per month.
Affected customers appear to have taken advantage of the promotion, which includes a virtual $200 gift card that customers can use after using Visible for at least three months. This gift card sale combines with the recent 2for22 sale, which offers discounted prices on the first two months of service, and it’s a great deal if you want to try out the prepaid carrier. Unfortunately, it also opens doors for those looking to make easy money.
When asked about the report, Visible provided the following statement to Android Central.
Visible discovered a group of illegally created accounts that violated our promotional terms and conditions. We terminated these accounts, but received messages from some customers asking us to review the decision. Our goal is to ensure that we offer promotions and services to legitimate members, so we are taking steps to review these upgrades and restore service if necessary.
One affected customer said in a Reddit post that their account was reinstated and was told the operator was terminating new accounts and activating multiple lines from the same address. Still, it’s an odd way for operators to take advantage of their promotions to deal with customers, especially since they don’t seem to be informed of the reasons behind their decisions.
