by GizmoShot | Published On January 3, 2022

ASUS finally fulfilled its promise before the end of 2021.

What you need to know

  • Asus has released stable Android 12 updates for ZenFone 8 and ZenFone 8 Flip.
  • The update includes a series of improvements and the application of Android 12 design to the interface.
  • Some third-party applications are not yet compatible with the latest Android version.

Although other original equipment manufacturers such as Samsung and OnePlus have encountered various problems, after its debut on the Google Pixel 6 series, Android 12 continues to be used on more devices. The latest devices to receive the update are Asus’ ZenFone 8 and ZenFone 8 Flip.

Given that the company promised in October to update the ZenFone 8 series to the latest version of Android by December, this announcement is not surprising. Moreover, just a few days before 2022, ASUS fulfilled its promise.

Asus’ answer to the best Android phones released in 2021 is currently being updated through wireless deployment. For those who don’t want to wait, the Chinese mobile phone manufacturer also provides it via manual download. This is the complete change log:

  • System upgrade to Android 12

  • Adjust the quick setting panel, notification tray and volume panel to Android 12 design

  • Introduced a new widget page design in the launcher.Adjust the position of the screenshot options and remove the hot seat application icon on the overview page
  • Removed the quick settings layout option in the display settings
  • ASUS Phone removed SIP call support, because Android 12 does not support SIP calls
  • Some 3rd party apps are not yet compatible with Android 12

The size of the update is about 3GB, so make sure you have enough storage space before clicking the download button. The download link can also be found in the post on the ZenTalk forum.

According to ASUS’ update schedule, ROG Phone 5 and 5s will receive the same treatment in the first quarter of 2022, while ROG Phone 3 and ZenFone 7 series phones will be updated in the first half of this year.

Although ASUS is known for its slow release of updates, it is great to see that ASUS brings some of the advantages of Android 12 to ZenFone 8 series users.
