Blizzard Entertainment is developing a Warcraft mobile game slated for release in 2022. Very little information is currently available, so it’s unclear what type or form the game will take.
The game was announced during Activision Blizzard’s Q4 2021 financial results. Blizzard Entertainment is no stranger to mobile gaming, and the upcoming Diablo Immortal transforms the iconic hack and slash RPG formula into a format that works with touchscreens.
This Warcraft mobile game may be a strategy game, an action game or some other type of game. However, given that Blizzard is already managing the ongoing Hearthstone, it’s unlikely to be a card game.
In addition to these two mobile games, Blizzard is continuing to develop World of Warcraft, as well as early development on Diablo 4, Overwatch 2, and new IPs. Whatever this new Warcraft mobile game ends up being, it could join the ranks of the best Android games.
Activision Blizzard is currently being acquired by Microsoft for nearly $69 billion. The acquisition is scheduled to close sometime before June 2023. When the deal closes, Activision Blizzard’s teams and studios will become part of the Xbox First Party Group. However, this is unlikely to affect the platform for mobile games.
