Yae Miko is the new 5-star Electrocatalyst user, joining a growing list of playable characters.
Genshin Impact 2.4 may have just been released, but miHoYo is looking forward to next month’s update 2.5 and will never be content to let one of the best Android games sit idle. Following its update cadence, 2.5 should arrive around February 16th. Although miHoYo has only revealed one new playable character so far – Yae Miko – there have been plenty of leaks showing what players can expect in the upcoming update. Here’s everything we know about Genshin Impact Update 2.5 so far.
Genshin Impact Update 2.5: A new character titled Miko Yae
Yae Miko has been confirmed to join the growing roster as a playable character in Update 2.5. She was first introduced in Update 2.0 as Miyaji of the Flash Naruto Taisha. During the Archon mission in Chapter 2, the player learns that she is an old friend of General Raiden and can transform into a fox.
- Yae Miko: Yae Miko is a 5-star Electrocatalyst user. According to data miners, her elemental skills and bursts are focused on inflicting massive electrocution damage, summoning the vixen to the battlefield.
In each update, a four-star character is usually added next to the new five-star character, but miHoYo has yet to reveal who it will be. However, leaks point to four-star electronic character Kuki Shinobu working with Arataki Itto.
Banner replays are rumored to include Kokomi, Raiden Shogun and Kazuha, although miHoYo has not confirmed these either.
- General Thunder: Raiden Shogun is a Martian Electron Polearm user and a vessel for the Electron Archon. She spends most of her time on the Parthian plane and is obsessed with the concept of eternity.
- Mimiya Miyomi: As a 5-star hydrocatalyst user, Kokomi rules the Lightning’s Watatsumi island and excels as an auxiliary healer.
- Maple Plains and Leaves: Yi Ye was born in the Fengyuan family, a five-star swordsman, and a member of the Beidou ship.
Genshin Impact Update 2.5: New weapons, monsters and events
The Genshin Impact Leaks subreddit posted new elemental warriors that people claim reminded them of designs from Dark Souls or Elden Ring. Additionally, Raiden Shogun looks set to be a new weekly boss for players to compete for rare materials.
Other leaks include several new catalyst options, which make perfect sense when Yae Miko will be added to the roster as a playable character. The five-star option, Kagura Real, seems to have a max base attack of 608. The four star catalyst, Eye of the Oath, will have a max base attack of 565.
As for the event, we’ll have to wait and see what miHoYo has in store. There’s a good chance that Banner of the Yae Miko and General Raiden will be replayed, and we can expect more events in the Lightning area. Also, Enkanomiya, the mysterious area below Watatsumi Island, was recently available in update 2.4, so miHoYo could definitely add more missions there.
Genshin Impact Update 2.5: release date
MiHoYo has not confirmed a release date for Genshin Impact Update 2.5, but judging from past updates (usually every 42 days), we expect the 2.5 update to be released around February 16, 2022. Server maintenance typically begins around 6:00 AM China Standard Time (5:00 PM ET/2:00 PM PT) and lasts four to six hours. Players are compensated with 60 Primogems per hour when the server is down.
