Ghostwire: Tokyo looks stylish and spooky in PS5 game recap

by GizmoShot | Published On February 3, 2022

Shine a new light on what lurks in the dark.

What you need to know

  • Ghostwire: Tokyo is an upcoming limited-time PS5 console developed exclusively by Tango Gameworks.
  • A new gameplay overview video takes a deep dive into how players will battle Dark Souls in the faithful Tokyo game.
  • Ghostwire: Tokyo is scheduled to launch on March 25, 2022, with three days early access for anyone who pre-orders the Digital Deluxe Edition.

PlayStation and Bethesda Softworks shared more details about Ghostwire: Tokyo in a new game overview. Ghostwire: Tokyo, developed by Tango Gameworks, has players scavenging evil spirits in Tokyo. With Ethereal Weaving, players can use fire, water, air, and other ghost abilities to fight these spirits.

You can check out Ghostwire: Tokyo’s new overview below.

When Tango Gameworks founder Shinji Mikami was asked to describe what Ghostwire: Tokyo was, members of the development team described it as “supernatural” and “strawberry shortcake.”

The game leverages the PS5’s 3D audio system to make the music and atmosphere as eerie as possible, and ray tracing combined with wet puddles means Tokyo looks as good as possible.

Ghostwire: Tokyo will launch on March 25, 2022, as previously confirmed in the video description prior to the livestream. Anyone who pre-orders the digital deluxe edition of the game will get access three days before March 22, along with a few bonus items: a streetwear suit, a ninja suit, and a kunai weapon.

Ghostwire: Tokyo is a limited-time console for at least a year for the PS5, and since Bethesda Softworks’ parent company ZeniMax Media was acquired by Microsoft, it could be the last new Bethesda game to launch on the PlayStation console.
