- Honor will soon launch its first foldable phone.
- Magic V is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor.
- Honor has not disclosed any other details about the foldable device.
OPPO, a smartphone manufacturer under BBK, recently released its first foldable phone, Find N. Now, Honor has started making fun of the release of its first foldable Magic V.
Sadly, the trailer released by Honor did not reveal much about the upcoming foldable product. We can only see two panels separated by hinges. If the rumors are credible, Magic V will use an internal folding design, such as Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3 and OPPO Find N.
Rumored specifications of Honor Magic V include an 8-inch internal screen with FHD+ resolution, a 108MP main camera, and a 4,500mAh battery. Although it remains to be seen whether Magic V can make the best foldable phone worthwhile, it may have a big advantage over its competitors.
Earlier this month, Honor confirmed on Weibo that its next “flagship” will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. Motorola’s Edge X30 Pro is currently the only mobile phone with a 4nm chip.
Since the company has begun trials of the device, it is likely that the release date will be confirmed soon. The phone is expected to make its debut in China sometime next month. However, it remains to be seen whether Magic V will be launched globally.
Honor is not the only Chinese Android OEM preparing to launch a new foldable phone. Xiaomi launched its first foldable phone earlier this year and is said to be developing “Mix Fold 2”. Follow-up products of Mix Fold tend to use Samsung’s Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) to improve durability. It is said that this phone also uses a redesigned hinge and 8.1-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz.
Update, January 4 (11:35 PM EST) ― Honor Magic V will debut in China next week
Honor announced that Magic V will be unveiled at a press conference in China on January 14. The conference poster includes new renderings of the upcoming device, confirming that it will use an internal folding design, such as Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3 and OPPO Find N.
The company has not disclosed other details, so we will have to wait a while to learn more about the foldable device. There is no news about whether this phone will be launched globally.
