Two very different comfort games.
what you need to know
- Two open-world adventure games from Whitethorn Games are coming to Stadia soon.
- Calico asks players to rebuild the town’s cat cafe by recruiting animals, meeting citizens, and making food for them.
- Lake is a narrative adventure game in which players are free to explore a small town in Oregon, build relationships, deliver mail, or just go for a drive.
Google announced today that two other games will be “coming soon” to its Stadia platform. Both games disclosed are published by Whitethorn Games, a company that focuses on light-hearted, stress-free gaming genres.
The first game to come to Stadia is Calico, a community simulation game in which you’ll be tasked with rebuilding the town’s cat cafe. Players can explore the forest and make friends with animals like cats, deer, dogs and even red pandas, along with other citizens like magical girls and witches. Animals can stay at your party to hang out with you, or be sent to meet customers at their new home in the cafe. The cafe can also be decorated with different styles of furniture, and there is a cooking mini-game to sell the food that the citizens like.
Another upcoming game is Lake, where players follow Meredith Weiss, a 40-something Oregon state in the 1980s, as she trades her software company job for her father’s job as a local mailman. Players have two weeks to do what they love, including delivering mail, meeting new neighbors, or just staying home and reading.
Neither game’s release date has been revealed, but Google promises that more than 100 games will be available on Stadia by 2022. The company achieved the same goal last year, with some of its games becoming the best games on Stadia. platform. So far this year, Stadia has nearly 10 games launched, with more to come next month.
