Rhythm-action VR first-person shooter Pistol Whip is getting a major update, including new scenes, local multiplayer modes, and more mods for the Styles system.
The Encore update for the Quest 2 and PlayStation VR games will add two more scenes or levels to the game, for a total of 30 songs. Each new scene will feature end credits from Pistol Whip’s previous DLC campaigns: Magic Sword’s The Way Home in the post-apocalyptic 2089 campaign and Devora’s Fist Fight in the western-themed Smoke & Thunder campaign.
Players will be able to hand over their VR headsets and challenge others next to them in the game’s new party mode, where preferred scenarios and modifiers are set, and players attempt to top the local leaderboard. The Styles system also received three new modifiers, such as scoring based solely on accuracy, shooting to the beat, and swapping enemies for “abstract targets”.
According to Pistol Whip developer Cloudhead Games, since the Styles system launched last August, players have posted more than 2.5 million weekly scores across more than 100,000 unique leaderboards and over 5,000 unique styles.
Additionally, the Encore update to one of the best Quest 2 games will add three new weapons, four winter weapon packs, and UI improvements.The studio has been teasing an update for Thursday, February 24 Twitter since last week.
