You have to really like Wear OS to buy it.
what you need to know
- TAG Heuer unveils its latest luxury Wear OS smartwatch.
- The Connected Calibre E4 is powered by the Snapdragon Wear 4100+ and will be updated to Wear OS 3.
- The smartwatch starts at $1,800 and ships in early March.
Are you a Wear OS fan? Do you like luxury smart watches? Then the new TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 could be the smartwatch for you, that is, if you’re willing to shell out for one.
The new smartwatch is built with premium materials, including titanium and steel cases (depending on model and size), ceramic bezels, and sapphire crystal screens. It is available in 42mm and 45mm case sizes and is available in a variety of straps, leather and rubber.
The style has changed to reflect a sportier look, while retaining the elegant design that’s sure to dwarf many of the best Wear OS watches. TAG Heuer touts a thinner chassis, at least on the 42mm model, and the 45mm model has a 30 percent larger battery, which should help track workouts throughout the day.
TAG Heuer has its own software and companion app that enables fitness tracking on the watch’s display, including golfing, swimming, and even coaching workouts. The Connected Calibre E4 has built-in GPS and an altimeter to measure outdoor type altitudes.
Powering everything is the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100+, the same chipset found in Fossil Group’s smartwatches like the new Skagen Falster Gen 6. This should provide excellent performance, and the watch will be ready for Wear OS 3 when it launches later this year, which is a relief for the financial investment.
As for price, Tag Heuer’s cheapest model costs a whopping $1,800, and the price goes up from there. That’s not surprising considering the brand, but it’s sure to shock even the most die-hard Wear OS fan sticker.
