The best part about most of these apps is that they integrate with the best running watches as well as the best fitness trackers so you can have all your workout info in one place. Others are simpler – just track steps or basic movements. There’s a place for all of them, and some work well with the best fitness apps.

What is the best running app for Android?

When searching the Play Store for a stable application, there are many options to consider. The app must offer detailed tracking, potentially advanced features, and the ability to sync with your fitness tracker or health app. Strava Satisfies all three categories by providing an excellent all-in-one run tracking application.

The biggest benefit of Runkeeper is the number of features you get without spending a penny. With features like route creation, training plans, challenges, and audio prompts, Runkeeper is a great all-in-one app for tracking your runs and other workouts.

With challenges, you’ll be able to get your friends to join in, pushing each other to their limits. And there are rewards and achievements to work towards adding some fuel to motivation. For those of you who don’t want your friends to join in the first place, you can easily share your progress and activity to any social media platform you wish.

When looking for an app that works well, you need an app that integrates with existing products and services. What more can you say when you find an app that is completely free to use? For example, thousands of people use Nike Run Club every day to track their runs while seeking to achieve their goals.

The app provides real-time feedback and audio cues to help motivate you throughout your run. Then, when you get home, you can sit back and see all the details about your run, including pace, altitude, calories burned, and more.

NRC also lets you create custom workout plans so you move at your own pace. You’ll get workout and heart rate data synced with Google Fit, and your friends can even support you with audio cheers on the run.

Zombies, run!

Running sucks. (At least if you’re normal, it should suck.) This app makes it fun. Immersive and alternate reality games are nothing new, but zombies, run! Bring these ideas into the fitness space. you are running. Zombies are chasing. There are plenty of stories to keep you entertained, so it keeps things interesting. Want interval training? It can do that too. If you’re more of a walker than a runner, the app can handle that too. (Just make sure you walk faster than the zombie shuffle.)

Map My Run is a great companion, whether you’re just starting out or a seasoned player. The app was acquired by Under Armour a few years ago and brings all the popular features you’d expect, including custom workout routines, training plans, and real-time audio coaching. You can even find At-Home Health Challenges for those who can’t get out of the house but need to keep exercising.

Deep integration with MyFitnessPal to see your calorie intake and burn. Additionally, this will sync with many popular fitness trackers and apps such as Google Fit, Garmin, Fitbit, and more. You can upgrade to MVP to unlock more features, such as real-time tracking, movement guidance, and advanced maps. The MVP subscription costs $29.99 per year or $5.99 per month.

Fitbit

If you’re using a FitBit to count steps, chances are you’re using the FitBit app. It’s not a traditional run/walk app as it helps guide your workouts. In our opinion, the Fitbit app is more about counting than tracking.

But it does a great job in terms of sheer distance and calories burned, and it separates the minutes of activity from the minutes you’re just hanging around. The app is free, and some phones can take advantage of it without purchasing FitBit’s line of accessories. Users who rely on FitBit devices may eventually want to purchase a FitBit Premium subscription for $79.99 per year or $9.99 per month.

While not specifically designed for exercise, the Fitbit offers far more than you might think.

Adidas Running App – Your Sports and Running Tracker

Runstastic is another great way to keep working out over the long term. It has a free trial version, but if you’re like us, you’ll be paying for the Pro version soon. You get all the standard features – a roadmap, a calendar of long-term goals, and all kinds of social sharing. Alternatively, you can manually add events.

Runtastic Pro adds voice coaching, route search, audible cheers, heart rate monitoring, interval workouts and weather information.
